Coaching, Healing, and Dual Boards in Action | California Chronicles — Part Four
Share

During his trip to California, Rip Current Sports founder José-Luis Gallagher met the inspiring Coach Wilma (@HealingWithWilma) at the Pasadena Boys & Girls Club — a true leader using swimming as a pathway to healing, confidence, and empowerment.
Coach Wilma welcomed José and the Dual Boards with open arms, giving her swimmers the chance to experience training that builds comfort, balance, and self-trust in the water. Watching her athletes light up as they explored new movement was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do — to help swimmers everywhere feel confident and capable.
One of the most moving moments came when an Athlete Without Limits used Dual Boards for the first time — the smile said it all. As José reflected,
“Coach Wilma’s work proves that swimming is so much more than a sport — it’s a way to heal, to grow, and to believe in yourself again.”
After the demo, José and Coach Wilma capped off the day with a shared workout and breakfast — celebrating community, connection, and the power of swimming to transform lives.
We’re so thankful to Coach Wilma and the Pasadena Boys & Girls Club for welcoming us with such warmth. Here’s to continuing to teach, inspire, and empower — together. 🌊
